LOCATION: The Edge on Rayford Rd. in Spring (home of TAV Houston)
When entering the building go to the right, courts are on right side.
DIRECTIONS FROM CS: Hwy 6 to Hwy 105 east to I-45 South to Rayford Rd. seems most direct route. From I-45, take the Rayford Rd exit in Spring. Turn left at the light at Rayford Rd. Go approximately 5 miles down Rayford Rd. You will eventually pass a Kroger on the left. Keep going about 3/4 mile. Then you will see Taco Bell on the left at Aldine Westfield. Turn left at the light at Aldine Westfield. Then immediately turn in behind Jack-in-the-Box towards the big grey/white building with The Edge on the front. It sits back from the road behind the Taco Bell, Jack-in-the-Box and Christian Brothers Automotive. Driving time from CS approximately 1 1/2 hours.

We are playing at the new Skyline facility, 10510 Westview, Houston, 77043. Coming from Hwy 290 and then south on Beltway 8, take the Westview exit, turn left onto Westview, go under Beltway 8 and travel east on Westview. Go through the light at Lumpkin, and the facility will be on the left. You will need to make a u-turn to enter the parking area. Park in the slots to the left. If those are full, please go to the back of the building and park in the vacant lot behind the gym. Do not park in the center area under construction for more parking, please.
This facility has drinking fountains and plenty of bleachers for spectators. The facility requests no gum, please. No balls in the lobby. Do not use the Skyline red, white and blue balls or any equipment in the gym.
HCYA does not charge admission.
Also, the courts are rented starting at 4:00, so please do not use any courts until then. I have rented two courts to play on, so please inform your parents and their children that no other courts or volleyballs or equipment should be used except those two courts by the players.
HCYA has volleyballs for you to use during warm-ups. They are royal blue and white, not the Skyline red, white and blue balls.
If your families want to find a place to eat close to this gym, Memorial City Mall is probably six blocks away at Gessner and I-10. There is a food court there and a number of restaurants attached to the Mall or close by.

SATCH's gym reservation was double booked. Another group has the courts until 7:00. We can arrive at 6:30 and put on shoes, stretch off court. JH Purple, JHBlack and JV will start around 7:15-7:20 after court warm ups. JV will play best of 5 games. Varsity will start after one of the JH games concludes. Just AFTER practice on WED, AUG 12, we will go together to the church office, and they will show us how to arrange Bibles and hymnals, and replace cards in the pew backs in the church. Please meet at the doors to the gym just after practice (about 3:15 pm) and we'll go together to help.
Cindy in the church office said it takes about 15 minutes (less if there is more of us!) so if you can stay and help, that would be GREAT!!
If your Mom or Dad is there to pick you up, they are welcome to come along, too! Please let the person who picks you up from practice know that you'll be done about 330p or shortly thereafter on WEDNESDAY this week!

Junior High (Purple Team) Parents,
Lisa LaFollete, purple team mom, is out of town and has asked me to step in and take the lead on a gesture of appreciation to the AMUMC for allowing us to use their facility for our practices.
Directly after practice on Wednesday, we will walk over to the sanctuary and arrange hymnals, tithing envelopes, etc. for their midweek service. If we have a little more than a handful of volunteers, this should only take about 20 minutes. Of course, if we have more, it will take even less. ;)
I will be at practice, so if you can find me directly after, we can walk over together and get everything taken care of very quickly.

Book Training
We will be holding two training sessions for parents who are interested in helping out as bookkeepers at our games. Right now we only have 1-2 parents per team who know how to keep books which means those parents are having to volunteer almost every game without a break. We would like to have at least four parents per team who know how to keep the books so that they can take turns in rotation. We always need a bookkeeper at every game, both home and away. Please consider if this is a way that you can help our program.

Panther Volleyball Week July 6 - 10
This week, registration for the upcoming volleyball season is due. If your daughter has decided to join us this season then registration and payment is due on Monday, July 6th. Only the registration fees are due on Monday. We suggest 1/3 of player fees due at the beginning of each month beginning in August or welcome to pay at one time. Teams will be formed soon so once we know how many girls will be on each team we will be able to give you a more accurate amount.
Please remember when you print paperwork from blog to only print on one side. Different sheets go to different people so this just helps with the distribution process.
Martha has made a slight change to the practice times on Monday evenings. This change will stay in effect until school/coops, etc. begins then HS practice will end at 8:30.

Lake Party/Practices
Panther Volleyball Week June 29 - July 3
NO PRACTICE Monday evening but instead we have a fun Lake Party planned from 5:00-8:00.
Please RSVP to ALHSVB@gmail.com by Saturday, June 27 (at the latest Sunday, June 28!!) to let us know how many in your family are planning to attend so we know how many hot dogs to buy. See previous post for more details. Not only is this a family get-together, play some sand volleyball but also a swim party. Come prepared to have fun in the water! No lifeguard on duty so please watch your children carefully.

Lake Bryan Picnic
All ALHSVB families are invited to join us for a picnic at Lake Bryan on Monday, June 29. This is an opportunity for our players and families to get to know one another as our season gets started. All players and their immediate family are encouraged to attend.

Time: 5:00-8:00pm
Place: Lake Bryan ($5 per car entrance fee)
Food: ALHSVB will provide hot dogs and buns. Bruce Postma will grill the hot dogs at the park.
What to bring: Each family should plan to bring drinks for themselves and a finger food to share. (No utensils, cups, or ice will be available so please plan to bring what your family will need.)
Activities: Sand volleyball will be available.

Volleyball Practices/Expo
Panther Volleyball Week June 22-27
If you were unable to attend the parent meeting last week you get another chance on Monday evening starting at 5:00. If you attended last weeks meeting no need to return unless you just can't get enough of seeing our bright sun shiny faces! :)
We are looking for a few more volunteers to stand at the booth for a couple of hours and talk about volleyball at the Expo. If you have been thinking about volunteering at the Expo, now is the time. Please talk with Lee at practice on Monday evening and she will be glad to add your name to the list.

Dig out those volleyball shoes and socks, wash those knee pads and wraps and get ready to have fun!
First is a brief Meet and Greet with coaches in gym with parents and players then as the players warm-up and begin practice the parents will have a short meeting with the committee upstairs. This will be a short Howdy and welcome with a little information from each committee member about upcoming season.

Volleyball - One Week Away!
Here is our schedule for the month of June:
All practices in June will be held at A&M United Methodist Church. (For the safety of the children in daycare, the church has asked that players not enter the building before 5:00. Thanks!)
Monday, June 15:
Parent meeting (AMUMC gym) 5:00-5:30. Committee and coaches will be introduced. Committee will give an overview of the program and parents will have an opportunity to ask questions.
Practice for all players (ages 10-18) 5:30-8:30.
Wed., June 17:
Practice for all players 1:00-3:00.
Monday, June 22:

AMUMC graciously allows us to use their gym for free; however, there are some dates in July when their gym is reserved for church events. On those dates, our practices will be moved to the SOS Ministries gym in Bryan. We will let you know in advance when that will happen.

Get Ready for Volleyball!
Aggieland Homeschool Volleyball will begin its 2015 season on Monday, June 15. Practices for the month of June will be at A&M Methodist Church on Mondays 5:00-9:00 and Wednesdays 1:00-3:00 for all ages. Players are welcome to participate for the month of June with no obligation or commitment. In July teams will be determined and registration forms/fees will be due by July 6. Please view the calendar for more detailed info on our practice and game schedule. Junior high and high school will begin practicing separately in July.
Complete information on our program can be found in our player/parent handbook which is located under 'Documents'. Pages 9-15 will need to be filled out and turned in by July 6.
We are blessed to have a wonderful group of coaches who are excited to be working with our girls this summer. We look forward to seeing all of you on June 15!
