End-of-Season Surveys

Surveys can be found under Documents on the blogspot.  We would greatly appreciate any constructive suggestions that you have to offer that will help us improve our program.  Completed surveys may be given to any committee member.

Thank you to all of the parents for pitching in and helping out where needed.  A special thank you to the first-year volleyball moms who learned how to keep books.  Your willingness to learn a hard job was a blessing to all of us.

Kim - Thank you for planning and organizing such a great end-of-season banquet.  The food, decorations, and activities were amazing.  Thanks for giving your time and sharing your gift of creativity with us.

The Lincoln Center would like to have pictures of the gym as it was decorated this morning to use for advertising purposes.  If anyone has pictures they would like to give to the LRC, please send them to Lee Postma.  Thank you.

Bring a water bottle.  This facility does not have drinking fountains, but does have water coolers to refill your water bottles.

 

No gum.

 

It would be helpful if you brought sports chairs.  The facility does have some chairs and two small sets of bleachers.

 

I would appreciate it if you would communicate with your families that the volleyballs in the center-concrete gym area and all of the club volleyball equipment in the facility are off limits.  Skyline is a friend to HCYA, and has requested that we not use their equipment/balls when we rent the gym.  Please keep a watchful eye on your children.  

 

We are renting two courts for our games.  Please do not use the other courts for warm-ups or playtime.

 

Children are welcome to play on the concrete area along the north wall behind the net.  Please do not play in the lobby.

 

You are our guests, there is not an admission fee for these games.

Details for "Dig Pink" Night

The Brazos Christian team players will be wearing special "t-shirt jerseys" and they will be selling pink "Dig Pink" shirts to the crowd. All profits from the t-shirts, gate, and concession that night will go towards the Sideout Foundation in order to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. 

If anyone on our teams, or connected with our teams would like to honor a victim, or survivor of breast cancer, they will have a special time to do that; please just pass the information to Coach Klatt.

Brazos Christian encourages everyone to wear pink accessories (socks, headbands, etc) and to invite as many fans as possible since it will be a special night.

NEW information regarding Secret Sister

Secret Sisters! :CHANGES as of Sept 22nd:

Last day to have a 'mail day' is THIS Friday.  By this time you should have sent 9 Bible verse cards to your secret sister. Please get caught up and bring ALL MAKE UP cards to Friday's practice. There will be no more 'mail days' after the 26th.  The final verse cards that were scheduled for Oct. 3 and Oct 6 can be put into your gift Shoebox as part of the filling. Hopefully this will de-stress busy families.

  REVEAL FUN DAY is Friday October 10th. Bring your decorated, filled shoebox to practice and find out who has been praying for you this season!

REVEAL PARTY DETAILS:  
The Secret Sister Reveal Party will be on Friday, October 10th at the Lincoln Center Gym-- 

Bring your filled, decorated Gift-Shoebox to the gym--there will be tables set up to hold them--we will do the reveal in between practices.  

Make sure to keep your identity a secret and DO NOT USE CODE NUMBERS or NAMES on the outside of the box. 
You will personally get to hand your box to your blindfolded secret sis--lots of fun!! Keep 'em guessing! :)

NOTE: if you will NOT be able to attend this reveal party please let Mrs. Chav know immediately. Alternate arrangements will need to be coordinated with multiple families to get absences worked out, so please try to be there. It is a LOT of fun!

Gym for Monday

We will be having our usual Monday evening practice but at a different location. We have acquired a gym at St. Michael school for this Monday's practice only. Same time, new location. Also, next week begins our Friday practice at Lincoln Center with JH from 9-11 and JV/V from 11-1.

Concession Stand News

Several people have wondered if we are having a concession stand this year?  Yes, we have a concession stand! It will be at most of the home games providing drinks, candy, nuts, chips and more for your snacking enjoyment.  Contact your team mom if you are interested in working. :)

End of Season Party date change

The end of season party date has been set for Friday, October 17th at the Lincoln Center. It will cover the lunch hour so dad may attend the program and participate in the fun activities and also eat lunch with all players and families. More details about this fun event will come later. If you would like to help with decorations/set-up or help with the party in any way, please contact Kim Chavarria.

JH Practice

We tried ever so hard to find a gym that would accommodate everyone's schedule and be no charge. We had some good leads but was unable to secure a location. We are now at our home gym at Lincoln Center. There is a membership fee of $30 and you will need to fill out a membership form. I have the forms and will get them to the team moms. The JH practice will be held on Friday's from 9:00-11:00 at the Lincoln Center with JV/V to follow. We appreciate your patience in this matter. We where working diligently on this task but sometimes waiting for return calls take time.

Home game gate information

I know we have a lot of new families this year so I would like to let everyone know the gate procedure for home games. There is a lot of information here so please read to the end.

1) If you are working the gate table for the first game, please be at the gym and ready at least 30 minutes before the game begins. At times in the past, the visiting team and families are there before 30 minutes before game time, but also, at times in the past, LRC does not let us in the gym as early as we would like. Just work with LRC and stand just inside the doors (after the staff lets us know we may enter the gym) as everyone enters while a table is being set up for you. LRC staff is really good about helping us get the gym ready for our games. Once you receive the gate money box and notebook, count the beginning money and initial in the notebook. The treasurer has already done this but just initial beside hers.

2) If you are a team that follows another game, please go promptly to the gate table as soon as the previous game is concluded to relieve that parent. Between games, both team gate parents (concluding team and incoming team) count the money, record totals, and both initial in notebook.

3) Parents and siblings of Panther players get into home games free. Grandma, Grandpa, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. will need to pay admission fees. Moms, please let your husbands know this information and ask them to let the gate person know that they are a Panther players dad.

4) The refs usually brings their ref pay sheet to the gate table, just put this inside the front pocket of the folder. The treasurer will be by to take care of them, usually after the game.

Adults: $4
Students: $2
Family Max: $12
Senior Citizens: $2

Any child younger than school age is free. Give grace to our grown up siblings who are in college and give them the student rate, they are students, right? If you are not sure, just ask, they will be happy to receive the discount. If a dad from the visiting team comes (for example) and all they have in their wallet is $2, then give grace and let them through with paying $2. Sometimes we just forget to run to the bank to get cash to give to our dads. So, in a nutshell, when working the gate table, sometimes we just need to use our own discretion at times.

Bookkeeping Training

I will be holding a training session on how to keep books for our home games.  We desperately need more parents to learn how to keep books and run the clock, especially for the jr. high teams.  All parents are welcome.  If you can't make it at this time, we can schedule training for you during a home game.

Training for the clock will need to be done during a game since the equipment is at the LRC.  Someone with experience will teach you and stay with you until you are comfortable doing it on your own.

Please let your team parent know if you are willing to learn how to keep books or run the clock.

JV Hangout Party

Attention all JV players & parents. Meredith & I have planned a fun hangout time for the JV girls!!! We hope every JV player can come in order for them to bond even more as a team :)
It will be this upcoming Monday 8/11 6:30-8:30pm at Meredith's house. Her address is 515 Camp Court, College Station, Tx 77840. Meredith has offered to take girls back to her house after practice (which ends at 5pm) if parents would prefer that in order to save gas/trips.
Girls are to bring $3 for pizza & 6yds of ribbon of their choice. They will be making hair ties to wear in their hair for games :)

Schedule for next two weeks

For the next two weeks JV/V will have an additional practice on Wednesdays from 1-3 at A&M United Methodist Church. If you have not done so already, you may link the volleyball calendar to your Google calendar by clicking on the Google box at the bottom of the calendar page. All practices have been added to the calendar for your convenience. Here is what the schedule looks like for the next two weeks:

dress code

Some families have asked for clarification of the dress code.  In an effort to be more specific about expectations, page 8 of the handbook has been amended as follows:

Shirts: T-shirts or athletic tanks are acceptable provided that they do not allow cleavage to be revealed during normal volleyball activities (bending, stretching, squatting, reaching, diving for balls, etc.) Shirts must be long enough to keep the mid-section covered during normal volleyball activities. No camisole style tanks or tops with spaghetti straps may be worn. Sports bras should be worn even if the top has a built-in bra (exceptions to this may be made for very young girls).

Shorts: Athletic shorts should not be tight-fitting and should be at least two inches below the bottom. Spandex shorts may not be worn alone, but they may be worn underneath athletic shorts.

Athletic clothing, both shirts and shorts, should be modest and conservative enough to keep undergarments concealed during all normal volleyball activities.

Practice times for Thursday, July 17

These practice changes are for Thursday, July 17 only.  Next week we will return to our normal practice schedule.

High School:  1:00-3:00 at Central Baptist Church.  All previous players should wear their jerseys to practice (unless you need to order a new one).  Coach Caroline will be coming to practice tomorrow.

Jr. High:  4:15-6:00 at Brazos Christian School.  We apologize for the time change but this is when the gym is free.  Please call or text Coach Klatt if you are unable to make it to practice at this time.

All previous players (high school and jr.  high) need to try on their jerseys and let Coach Klatt know by tomorrow if they need to order a new one.  Also let her know if you want to sell your used jersey to a new player.

Teams will be announced by email on Friday.

No practice tonight 7/14/2014

A&M United Meth. Church is using their gym to host a VBS this week.  We apologize for the short notice but we didn't know either until we came to set up.  We will try to find a different location for Thursday's practice.

Slight change in practice times

Beginning Monday, July 14 practice times will be as follows:

Mondays
Jr. High (14U)  5:00-7:30pm
High School  6:00-8:30pm

Thursdays (no change)
All teams  1:00-3:00pm

Reminder - Registration Forms Due

If you did not turn in your registration forms and/or fee on Monday, please remember to bring them to practice on Thursday.  Thanks!

Registration Forms are Due Monday, July 7

Please be prepared to turn in your registration forms (p. 9-15 of the handbook) and your registration fee on Monday.  When printing your forms, please print on one side of the paper only - not front/back.  Several of these pages go to different individuals and need to be separate.  Thanks!

There will be a parent meeting on Monday, July 7, at 8:00pm at A&M United Methodist Church.  We will collect forms and discuss the coming season.

If you are wanting to join but are unable to attend on Monday, please contact Martha Klatt (mandmklatt@verizon.com or 979-324-5232) to let her know.  She and the coaches will be determining the teams and they need to know who is committing to play this season.

Volleyball starts next week, Monday, June 23!

Time: Mondays, 5:30-8:30 and Thursdays, 1:00-3:00
Place: A&M United Methodist Church


On Monday, June 23rd, we will have an optional meeting for parents at 5:30. This will be an informal Q&A time and opportunity to meet the committee. At 8:15 (last 15 minutes of practice), parents will have an opportunity to meet the coaches.


Registration forms can be found in our Handbook which is under Documents on our blogspot. Registration forms and fee will be due no later than July 7. Until this date, new players are welcome to come to practices to decide if they want to join. We will have a mandatory parent meeting during practice on July 7. We need a formal commitment from everyone by this date so that coaches can determine the teams.

2014 Volleyball season is starting soon!

Beginning June 23, practices will be held at A&M United Methodist Church on Monday evenings 5:30-8:30 and Thursday afternoons 1:00-3:00.  All homeschooled girls ages 10-18 in the Brazos Valley area are welcome to join.  Download our registration forms or contact one of the committee members for more info.
